Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
How Do I set up my online Member portal?
Answer: Once you have enrolled in a plan, you should start receiving communications from your carrier (i.e. Alignment, Humana, etc.) on where that can be done. If you haven't received any such message, you can Google search, "(Your Carrier) Online Member Portal."

- Click a button saying, "Register New Account", or "Create New Account."
- You'll your Name, Date of Birth, Member ID Number, and other contact information.
- Complete any additional steps.
- Save your Log-In ID and Password information in a secure place.
- Congratulations! You're now able to manage your profile information, find doctors, download digital ID cards, and more.
How and When do I cancel my prior policy?
Answer: That depends on the type of policy.
- Medicare Supplement Policies: Whether you're switching Supplement Policies or moving to a Medicare Advantage plan, Medicare Supplement plans must be canceled by the member/insured. Some companies require a written letter, while others can be canceled with a phone call to the carrier. **Remember to set your cancellation date on the same day that your new plan begins to avoid a lapse in coverage.**
- Medicare Advantage Plans: Medicare Advantage Plans will automatically cancel when switching to a new Medicare Advantage plan.
- Prescription Drug Plans: Prescription Drug Plans will automatically cancel when switching to a new drug plan or a Medicare Advantage with Prescription Coverage.
When Will My coverage begin?
Answer: When you enroll in a new Medicare plan, the plan's effective date will be the 1st day of the
following month, unless:

- You're turning 65. If you're turning 65, and in the Initial Enrollment Period, the plan will begin on the 1st day of the month you turn age 65.
- You enroll within the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15th - December 7th) during the months of October or November. The new plan would go into effect on the 1st day of the new year.
How do I pay for my plan?
Answer: There are a few ways to pay the monthly premium for your plan(s).
- Medicare Supplement: Check, Bank Draft, or Card
- Prescription Drug Plan: Check, Bank Draft, Card, or Social Security Withdrawal.
- Medicare Advantage: $0 Premium Plans ( paid for by $174 Part B Premium from Social Security). Check, Bank Draft, Card, or Social Security Withdrawal for Advantage plans with a Premium.
When will my plan information/member card arrive?
Answer: Typically, it takes around 7-10 business days after your application has been approved. Check your online member portal (or create a profile) with your carrier to find plan information online. You might also have the option to download a digital copy of your ID card from your portal.
